We plan to spend the Christmas break with my in-laws in Denmark, which means interacting with people — a lot. The introvert that I am, I need some time alone to gather mental strength to get through Christmas unscathed.
And there is no better way to do that than by photographing airplanes in FRA. So I took an extra day off, and wrapped up 2024 the same way I as I started it: catching airplanes in Zeppelinheim.
My catch wasn't particularly impressive, but I didn't expect anything interesting anyway. In a way, it was a blessing in disguise, because I could just relax and enjoy watching airplanes.
When I arrived to Zeppelinheim on Monday, I was surprised to discover that the observation platform was completely deserted, and I was the only one there. That was the first time ever I experienced that, and it felt slightly weird.
My plan on Tuesday was to catch the Boeing 737-700 from TAROM wearing Happy 70 years retro livery, which I did. Alas, the lighting was absolutely terrible, so the final result was far from ideal. But, hey, the breakfast at Staycity had my favorite meatballs, so I can't complain.
I'm glad that I had a chance to squeeze a flying visit to FRA. It wasn't planned, and despite my meager yield, it was exactly what I needed.
