Despite all the precautions taken during our trip to Helsinki, we managed to catch a cold. As a result, I spent last week indoors. So as the weekend approached, I was hoping that something interesting would show up in NUE, giving me a reason to get out. And when I checked Flightradar24 on Saturday evening, I was pleased to discover that a Luftwaffe Airbus A400 (reg. 54+31) had been scheduled to land in NUE on Sunday around noon.
Despite the dreary and rainy weather on Sunday, I packed my trusty Nikon D800 and Sigma 150-600mm F5-6.3 DG OS HSM | C along with a hastily made sandwich, and off I went. It was raining pretty heavily, but a stairwell in the P3 parking building served me as a shelter while I was waiting for the airplane to appear. Thankfully, and somewhat unusually for a military aircraft, the machine departed from Eindhoven and arrived to NUE on time, so I didn't have to wait long.
Right after the aircraft landed, it taxied all the way back to the start of RWY 28, and took off shortly after. So for the first time ever, I managed to capture an airplane landing, taxiing, and taking off — all in one go.
