The weather Android app to rule them all

A flight tracker like Flightradar24, a METAR viewer, and a decent weather app are de rigueur tools for any serious aviation enthusiast and aircraft photographer. But finding a weather app that does exactly what you need can be a surprisingly challenging endeavour. There are so many weather apps to choose from, and many of them use different weather data source of varying quality. The way the app presents weather data is plays an important role too.

If you're and Android user, I have good news for you: you don't have to waste time searching for a perfect weather app, because I've already found it. It's called Breezy Weather. Because it's an open-source application, you can either install it downloading an APK package from the project's website or you do that through F-Droid.

Breezy Weather's two key strengths are the support for multiple data sources and a polished UI. By default, the app uses the excellent Open-Meteo weather API. But Breezy Weather also automatically selects a data source (if available) appropriate for the given location. For example, for any location in Germany, Breezy Weather automatically pulls data from Deutsche Wetterdienst (DWD) which provides the most accurate weather data for Germany.

The app displays a wealth of weather info in a clear and structured way. All the info is grouped into cards (Daily forecast, Hourly forecast, Sun & moon, etc.), and you can rearrange them as well as remove the cards you don't need.

In addition to the current location that Breezy Weather detects automatically, you can add as many locations as you need. And it goes without saying that the apps features several widgets you can display on the Home screen.

I can go on and on describing all the goodness Breezy Weather has to offer, but I'm not paid by the word, so go ahead and give it try yourself. I'm reasonably sure you'll agree with me that Breezy Weather is a pretty nifty weather app, indeed.
