Weekend in FRA: Airplanes and friendly hares

Between our trip to Malta, bad weather, and Euro 2024, I hadn't had a chance to visit Frankfurt for a while. But last weekend, the weather forecast looked somewhat promising, and I had no other plans, so off I went. Saturday tuned out to be rather windy with occasional rain showers, but the light was pretty good, with dramatic skies to boot. I managed to bag a few good shots, and I even captured the Electra Airways Airbus A320 that showed up on short notice.

Next morning, I got up at 05:30 to catch two airplanes: Airbus A340-600 (I have a weak spot for this particular aircraft) and a DHL Airbus A300 cargo version. I bet on both landing on RWY 25R, so I only had to walk to my preferred spot close to the Gateway Gardens U-Bahn station. It's a stone throw's from the Staycity hotel, so it was a rather short trek.

For a change, I was right on the money: both machines landed on RWY 25R.

Hare

While I was waiting for the aircraft to show up, a couple of hares kept me company, frolicking in a nearby small nature reserve.

After procuring lunch at Köfteci Oguz (their köfte dürüm are rather good), I spent a couple of hours at Zeppelinhein. I finished the day at O'Reilly's pub, treating myself to their out-of-this-world delicious Guinness BBQ ribs and copious amounts of Guinness.
